Trustee Recruitment

Trustee Recruitment

“Are you looking to be treasured”

We are seeking a committed individual to be Treasurer on our Board of Trustees. You would initially be invited to join the Charity as a probationary trustee or trustee-in-waiting, giving you the opportunity to learn about us, see how we work and get an understanding of the role on offer.

What's involved?

BS3 Community Development is a charity and company limited by guarantee that operates two community centres, nursery facilities and are host to a plethora of community services and activities in the BS3 postal area. Community activities are developed and delivered by staff and volunteer teams, along with partners, other voluntary sector organisations and the local authority. We run six nursery rooms, across two centres, offering early education training opportunities, career development and flexible working. We have just reopened our Café (and catering) and are looking at how we can strengthen our offer to our community.

Our governance structure has quarterly full board of trustee meetings, as well as a range of subcommittee meetings (early education & childcare, communities & engagement, catering & café, and finance).  You would be expected to be on our finance subcommittee, and from time to time may be invited to join additional, subcommittees, working groups, task and finish groups and the remuneration committee meetings. Our current board members have a range of skills and experience, from architect to actuary, volunteer to retiree, we are particularly interested in increasing the diversity of our board and keen to hear from individuals from differing backgrounds and age groups.

If you think that you need experience in accounting to take on a treasurer role, think again. We will offer support to become a trustee and training on the information that is provided to the finance subcommittees. We will help you understand the different areas of financial activities and how they fit into our financial papers for the board of trustees. The skills you might need are to; have an eye for details, the ability to understand how to interpret and interrogate data, the willingness to ask questions and the desire to be forward looking.
