BS3 Community Welcoming Spaces

Our 'Welcome Space' will take place in the reception and café area at the Southville Centre, every Thursday 4pm – 6pm,

We will provide a warm, welcoming space for people in BS3 struggling in the face of the current cost of living crisis.  Visitors can have a cuppa, chat with others and play board games. We are looking for volunteers to be the friendly face to welcome people and help oversee the sessions.

This could be the ideal role for you if you are friendly and welcoming, non-judgemental and understanding, enjoy interacting with a wide range of people and are a good communicator. If you enjoy a good board game, so much the better!

What's involved?

You will be welcoming people to the space, making drinks, helping run activities, or just be there to sit and chat with guests. There will be plenty of board games available which visitors can play with each other or our volunteers.

  • Volunteers needed on Thursdays, 4pm – 6pm, from 1st December 2022.
  • To assist with organising and running the session with BS3 Community staff.
  • To meet and greet people to the sessions.
  • To engage in informal conversation and provide information/signposting where appropriate.
  • To play board games with our visitors.
  • To create a comfortable and safe environment.
  • To help with setting up and clearing away after sessions.

Why get involved?

  • You will play a vital part in providing a friendly ‘home- from-home’ to those visiting our Welcoming Space.
  • A chance to meet new people and can share your Board Game skills!
