Our Support at Home Service is dedicated to helping people regain confidence and independence by providing short-term practical and emotional support in the home. This is usually after a hospital admission, a significant life event or just someone recognised as lonely/isolated. Visits are weekly and last for up to 2 hours with flexible with time/location depending on the preference of the volunteer.
What's involved?
Typical tasks include providing emotional support/companionship, helping with practical tasks like shopping and helping the service user link up to the community and services relevant to them. Volunteers receive full training and support throughout their time with the Red Cross.
Why get involved?
You will help people recover and regain their independence while meeting a variety of people, hearing their stories and helping your local community.
